We often talk about planning for a good death, but what about a good goodbye, after death?

eziFunerals is pleased to offer a FREE funeral planning service for consumers living at home or as a value-added benefit through a network of nursing homes, retirement villages and aged care service providers Australia wide.

Although there is increased awareness for end of life planning, funeral planning is often ignored, and can lead to unnecessary grief for family members who need to make all the arrangements, after our death.

According to eziFunerals Owner and Founder, Peter Erceg, funeral planning should be part of your and end of life planning, especially your Will. Although the discussion around death in our society is still often considered taboo, we are always amazed how the conversation flows freely and family learn things about their loved ones which come as a surprise once funeral planning takes place. When these discussions are not had, coping with death and decisions about the funeral have to be made in a time of grief and families can be torn apart arguing over the funeral arrangements.

Jim’s Story

Jim is 79, and his health is declining, so he thought, at his age, it was sensible to start end of life planning.

“My adult children have enough financial burdens to worry about, without worrying about how to plan for my funeral. With funerals ranging from $4,000 for a basic cremation to $15,000, plus unnecessary add ons, I needed to act now before it’s too late”, he says.

So, I decided to sign up with eziFunerals. The support and guidance I received was amazing. Planning my funeral through eziFunerals was a very simple process and helped me understand the funeral planning process. Best of all, it was FREE” he says.

But Jim also had another reason for making advance arrangements. “I now have the comfort of knowing that if I were in hospital, very ill and unlikely to get better, all this stuff is done. I wouldn’t have to struggle to make my wishes known from a hospital bed,” he said.

Jim has a detailed document, outlining not only the practical, but also the small things that are personally important to him, such as the readings and music he would like at his funeral mass.

At first, Jim’s family thought it was an irrational thing for him to do, but it was the opposite. The family are grateful to know that when the day arrives, they will know exactly what is to be done, before they contact a funeral director. They also have the comfort of knowing that Jim’s send-off will be exactly as she wanted it to be.
