The latest statistical snapshot on deaths by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) raises some interesting data for the funeral industry in Tasmania.
In 2018, there were 158,493 deaths registered in Australia, 2,416 less than the number registered in the previous year (160,909). Over three quarters (77.4%) of these deaths occurred in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland combined.
In Tasmania, there were 4,287 deaths, 493 less than the number registered in the previous year (4,780).
